Synopsis from book:

Ali Greenleaf wants to be the cute girl, the cool girl, the one with Sean Nessel. Not the girl who everyone saw that night. Not the girl who was raped.

Blythe Jensen is gorgeous, popular, hard-edged. Ali’s not even on her radar, not until that night. And when Sean asks her to do the unthinkable, she says yes. She always says yes.

So Blythe befriends Ali to cover for Sean. The two girls seem like opposites, but in some ways they are exactly the same: they both have secrets, and without each other, they might hold into those secrets forever.

Review:

My heart broke reading this book. Broken for young girls who have gone through this, broken for those who will go through this, and broken for my own three young daughters who have to grow up in a world where the still happens.

Alli’s story is a common one. Unfortunately one that is usually silent. Girls are afraid of what will be said of them and how they will be perceived. A lot of times we adults actually contribute to the silence by either condemning the girl for putting herself in the situation, or for wearing a certain outfit, instead of loving and supporting them.

No means no. No matter if it seemed they were into it in the beginning. No means no and stop means stop! No matter how far it has gone stop means stop and no means no.

Young girls who may read this book. You have control of your body. You have a voice. You have power. Your no means no and if it is not listened to you have a voice. Tell someone! I hope you read this story and realize that keeping silent is not the answer. We are with you. We support you. No means no and stop means stop.

This story is hard to read. It is emotionally draining, heart wrenchingly painful, but very much important.
